This 19th Century vernacular commercial building with a second-story apartment was built c.1873 for the Meuser Butcher shop owned by German immigrant Carl (Charles) Meuser (1843-1913). His wife Maria (Mary) Semler Meuser (1846-1920) and family continued to own the property until 1921. Thereafter were various owners and uses including Danish immigrant and building contractor Christ Christensen (1871-1935), and Mattis Boat and Motor (1939-1965).
In 2024, the property was acquired by Historic Erie Preservation Trust, to restore and preserve it as a place of historic and architectural interest for benefit of the community.
