Erie's newest apartments shaped from 145-year-old buildings in historic site

If the massive walnut doors weren't enough of a hint, the 11-foot ceilings and the slate on the roof tells the story.

The 12 new townhouse apartments on West Sixth Street — equipped with LED lighting, exterior video cameras and high-efficiency heating — are designated as Buildings of Historical Significance that were built in 1875 in the basin of the former Erie Extension Canal.
