In a complex arrangement announced by Gannon, Hagen, who is the chairman of Erie Insurance and one of Pennsylvania's wealthiest residents, will purchase and restore the Carter-Shannon House and the Frederick Jarecki House at 221 W. Sixth St.

While the Carter-Shannon House will be used for student apartments, the Jarecki House will become the university's alumni house.
